What could be better: a morning walk or run in Edmonton’s river valley and the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting a campaign to eradicate a disease that once crippled or killed thousands of children annually in Canada and around the world, while also raising funds to support projects in our community.
And at the finish line you’ll receive a medal and everyone’s favourite treat—a freshly-baked sourdough cinnamon bun from Freson Bros.!
Half the proceeds from registrations (and all donations) will support Rotary International’s goal to eradicate polio worldwide. The other half will support local projects that impact people in need in Edmonton.
Participants have the option of registering for a five or 10 km run or walk. There is also a 1K Little Cinnamon Bun Kids Run. The runs and walks will all begin and end at picnic site #1 in Kinsmen Park, 9100 Walterdale Hill.
The date is Saturday, August 8 at 9:30 a.m.
The registration fees:
- 1K Little Cinnamon Bun Kids Run $23.56*
- 5K/10K Run/Walk (Kids): $23.56*
- 5K/10K Run/Walk (Adult): $61.12*
* includes all related fees
When you register you will also have an opportunity to make a tax deductible donation to Rotary International’s initiative to eradicate polio worldwide. Since the campaign was launched in 1985, the number of cases of this crippling disease has dropped from an estimated 300,000 annually in 125 countries to fewer than 10 cases today in just two countries—Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Every dollar raised from donations and from registrations to fight polio will be matched 2-to-1 by the Gates Foundation. This means that every dollar raised by the Cinnamon Bun Fun Run will result in another three dollars being added to the fight to end polio now!
